The artist BRUNO GUIMARÃES BY MRS. GLADIZ DE ZAPATA The plastic artist Bruno Guimarães, 60 years old, born in Manaus Amazonas Brazil, had his talent and artistic virtuosity discovered very early on, by his teacher, the Italian master Francesco Cocolice, who encouraged his 10-year-old pupil to make his first exhibition at the Liceo Orellana in Leticia Colombia. While on an exchange program in the United States, at age 12, he had his works exhibited in Melbourne Florida, in a collective exhibition of new talents at the HTS school. Returning to Brazil, at age 14, he attended painting classes with Mestre Moacir de Andrade, in Manaus, where he had his first solo exhibition at Teatro Amazonas. In São Luís do Maranhão, at age 18, he received guidance from artists, Fransoufer, Francisco Lobato, Péricles Rocha and Jesus Santos, soon becoming a colleague and part of this roster of Notorious Artists. With well-defined styles, he left for a brilliant artistic career, full of awards, in art salons in Brazil and Latin America. Its curriculum includes 53 individual and 10 collective exhibitions. A declared disciple of Manabú Mabe, Kenji Fukuda, Tomie Otake among other abstractionists, he chooses this school and its lyrical gestural style to portray feelings with the symbolic language of colors and gestures, where the brush and spatula float free on the canvas, escaping form explicit, giving value to the free, libertarian, poetic gesture that leads us, aided by the chromatic language, to elucidate the artist's expressive proposal. Zapata's Gladiz Art Critic and Owner of the Contemporary Art gallery in Quito Ecuador. HOW TO READ MY ARTWORK To read my work of art, detach yourself from the figure, I do not paint figures, but moments and feelings in colors and gestures, which, with the help of the name of the work, elucidate the proposed theme of what I portray on the canvas. As an Abstractionist Lyrical painter, I also use gestures in spatulate and brush strokes, in a peculiar composition created by me, where the quadrants determine, together with the colors, what is Emotional, Spiritual, Rational and Material, as you will see in the didactic chart below. I use the theory of colors and their meaning according to psychology, their mental and emotional triggers in analogy to human feelings, to express a feeling, a moment in my canvases, I use metaphorical titles that reflect passages, rites and times in human life. My art is subjective and depends on a certain knowledge to understand it. I compare my works with classical instrumental music, where the instruments are the gestures on the screen, the melody, the colors and the composition, and the whole set of work is a score. I hope you enjoy reading my work. Bruno Guimaraes
